Ghubar e Khatir was written by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It is a collection of letters that Abul Kalam Azad wrote to a close relative during his imprisonment in the British Government’s Ahmednagar Fort (1942-45).
The letters could not be posted at the time due to prison restrictions but were later reprinted as a collection. This period was politically turbulent. World War II was in full swing. The ‘Leave India’ movement was in full swing. Abul Kalam Azad was imprisoned in a fort where the prisoner had no correspondence with the outside world.
