The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate.

This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

Gladwell introduces us to the particular personality types who are natural pollinators of new ideas and trends, the people who create the phenomenon of word of mouth. He analyzes fashion trends, smoking, children’s television, direct mail, and the early days of the American.

The Tipping Point PDF

Quite simply it expounds upon the idea of the Tipping Point. “The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.” Throughout the book Malcolm Gladwell delves into different instances where these ideas, trends, and social behaviors have tipped.

Gladwell further analyzes these subjects in order to answer why these subjects tipped. Across the book he gives many different answers, the likes of which are then summarized pretty succinctly and brilliantly in the conclusion of the book.

Along this brilliant and entertaining mental journey, Gladwell examines the tipping points of popular children’s tv shows, inner city syphillis epidemics, AirWalk sneakers marketing campaign, Micronesian suicides, and several other seemingly disparate unconnected subjects.

Gladwell does a great job of connecting these subjects with his unifying idea of the Tipping Point. This is where Gladwell excels. The book flowed smoothly unlike many books that are crammed with so many different subjects and facts.

I found myself looking forward to reading more about the different subjects and analyzing along with Gladwell as to what their tipping points would be. It is easy to see why this book is a bestseller and a favorite among book worms.

It is complex and refreshingly insightful enough to keep us turning the page and balanced with a smooth, simple, clear writing style whose fluidity rarely falters.
